Waiting for the sun to come out...

It's been a while since I've been out to shoot a waterfall around Auckland but the other weekend I got out to the Hunua ranges and pointed my camera at the Huna Falls.

I've posted a shot of these false before here but it was during summer last year and as you can see there was a lot less water going over the falls. Now, as I'm sure you're aware, is the middle of winter and there's been plenty of rain about so the waterfall has tripled in size which makes it look much more dramatic.

How were these shot? A polariser and 3 stop ND filter were stacked which allowed me to get an exposure time of 2 seconds, more than enough to blur the water but for the falls themselves I blended in a .5 sec exposure which gave a little more definition to the water and helped eliminate any over exposed spots that were present in the longer exposure.
