The Lower Nihotupu Reservoir overflowing in the middle of winter as rain falling on the Waitakere Ranges in the distance quickly approaches. In fact I got only the one shot off before it started to fall where I was standing.
This was shot on the same afternoon as my previous images from the Donald McLean lookout and of Cornwallis wharf (quite a successful afternoon really). In fact as I'd left the wharf, only 5 minutes down the road, in sun shine I'd hoped to shoot this with a bit of colour in the sky as the sun set behind the hills. Sadly this was not to be, but the rain and mist in the distance create some nice atmosphere.
